St. James Student Support
As the Greenville County Schools are preparing to close for an extended period, there are a number of students who rely on federal food programs administered through the schools to provide two-thirds of their daily meals. These students will go hungry without additional nutritional support. In our immediate area, Paris Elementary, Sevier Middle School and Wade Hampton High School all have significant low income populations which will be negatively affected by an extended closure.
St. James is seeking volunteers and donations to establish an emergency meals program to help support these students and their families.
The plan is simple. Through financial donations, St. James will provide each preregistered family with a grocery bag filled with one week's worth of lunches and breakfasts for one student. The grocery bags will include:
7 servings of instant oatmeal or grits;
7 servings of instant hot chocolate mix;
1 loaf of bread;
1 jar of peanut butter (or soy butter)
1 jar of grape jelly;
7 cartons of instant soup;
7 granola bars;
1 bag of apples or oranges.
The cost of each bag is: $_______________.
These bags will be distributed each Monday drive-though style to those families who are preregistered and show a school ID at pickup.
If you would like to volunteer to assemble and distribute the bags, please fill out the form below. If you would like to donate financially, please click the button below and enter the amount you would like to donate in the "Meals for Schoolchildren" line.
