Outreach at St. James

Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:26-28

Dear Friends in Christ:

The joy and privilege of membership in the church is serving others in the love of Christ.

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all the others.”
Romans 12: 4-5

Paul uses the analogy of the body and there are four very important implications that we should understand from Paul’s anatomy lesson. The four things these verses teach:
  • Every member is a minister in Christ’s body.
  • Every member has a different function.
  • Every member’s ministry is important.
  • Every member belongs to the others.

You are shaped to serve God with your gifts, your talents and resources. Every member of the church has a ministry, a place to give of themselves and to make a difference.

I invite you to pray and consider how you can connect to a ministry and serve the Lord through St. James Episcopal Church. Please click below and read through the various opportunities to serve and listen for God’s call to serve Him this year at St. James. Call and offer your gifts to build up the strength of our community and serve the world that God created and loves. As James reminds us: “[B]e doers of the word, and not merely hearers!”
