Covid-19 may have devastated our world with a horrible pandemic, but it has not stifled the enthusiasm for St. James' Prayer Shawl Ministry. On April 29, several of the team met in the rear parking lot (keeping our "social distance," of course) to bring together our masterpieces of love. It had been two months since we had been able to have a regular meeting, but each person had been working diligently at home creating gorgeous shawls for hospice patients. |
Hats, hats, hats!!!
|
The prayer shawl ministry has decided to expand its ministry to hats for chemo patients. Truly they do not need them right now, but it won't be long before cooler weather will be upon us. These patients will be so grateful to have a warm hat to wear. If you are not able to attend our regular meeting each month but would like to participate, please feel free to make hats for those in need. You can deliver them to the office and I will pick them up.
We are always in need of more prayer shawls. The nice thing about these ministries is that you can participate without ever leaving your home. It is a very special ministry that benefits two hospice groups and individuals who have received our shawls. In less than two years we have made and distributed 185 prayer shawls both inside and outside the St. James community. |
The Prayer Shawl Ministry has been very industrious lately. An appeal was made for more prayer shawls. In answer to that appeal 22 prayer shawls were submitted and blessed by Father Stephen Rhoades. Many thanks to those who so graciously spent your time in creating such beautiful works of art! Each shawl will be given either to hospice for their patients or to individuals whom we know need the blessing and peace given by the Holy Spirit. If you know of a person in need of the comfort provided by a prayer shawl, please contact Nancy Gammons.
