The Rev'd Roxanne Ruggles
The Rev. Roxanne Ruggles, Assistant Rector, joined the staff of St. James in March, 2010.
Mother Roxanne was raised in rural southern Ohio. She attended Ohio University, Athens, OH before transferring to Asbury College, Wilmore, KY where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Bible. She continued her education at Asbury Theological Seminary, earning of Master of Arts in Religion degree with a major in Christian Education and a minor in Church Music. For the next 25 years, she held lay positions at a variety of churches in Lexington, KY including Parish Administrator at St. Michael's Episcopal Church and Minister to Newcomers at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
In the summer of 2006, Mother Roxanne moved to Austin, TX to attend the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest where she received a Master of Divinity degree in 2009. While in seminary, she did field work at the University of Texas Episcopal Student Center, a vibrant community of 200 students. In addition to her seminary studies, she served as Director of Stewardship at St. David's Episcopal Church, a parish of over 2500 members in downtown Austin.
Mother Roxanne was ordained deacon in January, 2009 in the Diocese of Lexington in Kentucky. Following her call to St. James, she was ordained priest on April 30, 2010.
Mother Roxanne is the parent of two grown sons, Charles and Rob.
