STRATEGIC GOALS AT SAINT JAMES

On September 23 and again on December 2, 2001, the parishioners of Saint James came together to identify strategic goals which would enable us to put our new Vision and Mission statements into action. Through this process of brainstorming, discussion, and voting on preferences, seven strategies have been selected help us realize our vision and purpose.

Our vision is to fulfill God's will by being a diverse, harmonious community in which each member is actively involved in worshiping God and serving all people through Christ.

Our purpose is to be a Christ-centered community offering all people opportunities for worship, fellowship, and service to others.

Here are our seven strategic goals, grouped under the headings of three main objectives:

  1. SERVICE
    • To increase and expand children's and youth programs and activities
    • To create a senior ministry through new programs and activities

  2. OUTREACH
    • To create a Men's Group for service and outreach projects
    • To establish a church-wide mission project
    • To create a tutoring program to assist children in the public schools

  3. DIVERSITY
    • To create a ministry for mission and outreach to the Hispanics in our area
    • To promote accessibility, removing physical barriers to our facilities for those with disabilities, and attitudinal barriers toward persons with differences

Ideas for specific actions to implement each of these strategies were debated and recorded at the second Charting the Course luncheon. These ideas are currently being incorporated into concrete action plans which will soon be presented to the parish, in the newsletter, on this page, and through other means.

Stay informed and prayerfully consider how you can get involved in these vital ministries to help Saint James achieve its vision as a diverse, harmonious, Christ-centered community.
