The Stewardship Committee Presents
"Opportunities with Christ"
An Expedition in Ministry |
Purpose: To present volunteer stewardship opportunities to the congregation in an effort to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to our "Purpose" and to experience the joy, blessings and rewards that only a journey in Christian stewardship can bring.
Theme: This year's "All aboard the St. James Express!" theme illustrates the reality that each individual's effort combines and contributes to the efforts of others and creates the whole. (Remember the "sum of the parts equal the whole?"). By combining the collective time, talents and treasures of many, we as a parish will overwhelmingly accomplish the work that God has sent us out to do. When individual volunteers combine with other volunteers, fuel and energy that powers their respective ministry or program is created. These separately fueled and energized ministries and programs can then combine and create the fuel and energy that our church (or our engine) uses to answer God's call of giving of ourselves by faithfully and unselfishly sharing some of what He has given us.
The Event: On Sunday, August 25th, the PLC will be the station where the "St. James Express" will begin her journey. It will be loaded with many "Opportunities with Christ" and will give every parishioner an opportunity to join and come together to serve Christ.
So, "ALL ABOARD!"
The St. James Express is about to leave the station…and we don't want to leave without you!
Be sure to reserve your "boxcar" on the St. James Express and take the opportunity to share with others the purpose, the joys and the rewards that each volunteer will experience when they climb aboard the St. James Express!

The Engine of the "St. James Express" is our church as a whole that leads us in our journey of Christian Stewardship.
The Boxcars represent the different opportunities (groups and committees) for ministry with Christ offered at St. James.
The activities of these "opportunities" generate coal for the Stewardship Coal Car which in turn supplies the fuel for the engine of the "St. James Express". Through the collective talents, time and resources of our parishioners in their ministry, the "St. James Express" is able to continue on the tracks of our objectives towards our Vision and Purpose Statements.
The Caboose will be reserved for the learning center for our youth, demonstrating that our up-and-coming young people, when filled with the knowledge of Christ and stewardship principles are the promise of our future.
