ST. JAMES DAY AT CEDAR MOUNTAIN
Service: On Sunday, June 11, 2006, join the annual pilgrimage of the people of St. James to Faith Memorial Chapel on Cedar Mountain. The service starts at 11:00 a.m. Father Timothy will be the guest preacher, and our organist and members of the choir will take part in the service. The drive to Faith Chapel is a beautiful mountain drive past Caesar's Head and the entrance to Camp Greenville. It is about a one-hour drive depending on traffic.

Food and Fun: Following the service, we will move to Atagahi Park in Connestee Falls for a covered-dish picnic. Beverages, plates, cups, napkins, etc. will be provided. Remember if you bring one "dish," the rule of thumb is to triple the amount you would prepare for your family. We will need to send a list of attendees ahead of time to the security checkpoint at this private community, so please sign up in the narthex if you plan to attend.

The park offers a covered picnic area, as well as child's swimming area, horseshoes, volleyball, and paved basketball court. (Please bring your own sports equipment).

History: Faith Memorial Chapel was originally founded as Faith Chapel by Bishop Ellison Capers in the 1890s. In 1936 the Reverend Alexander R. Mitchell started a movement which resulted in the revival of the Chapel for the summer community. He was then rector of St. James, and many members of this parish have had a continuing role in the ministry of the Chapel Board. The Chapel has developed an interdenominational tradition.

Remember: On June 11 at St. James, there will be Eucharist services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
