EYC SUMMER
MISSION TRIP
The combined
Junior and Senior EYC groups traveled to Boone, N.C., during
the week of July 13-21 for their annual mission trip. Our
youth worked with five different agencies: the Hunger Coalition,
Head Start, the Watauga Humane Society, Samaritan's Purse
and Habitat for Humanity.
To finance this
mission work, the EYC held a number of fund-raisers and
service projects over the past year. Thanks to the many
parishioners who bought T-shirts and doughnuts; you have
made it possible for us to be Christ's helping hands in
the world. Here are are some of the projects parishioners
at St. James have donated goods and materials to this summer:
Samaritan's
Purse has a program called Operation Christmas
Child which provides gift-filled shoe boxes to desperately
needy children world wide. The EYC donated 24 filled boxes
(12 male and 12 female) to this worthwhile project. The
age range is infant to 18 years.
Our Habitat
for Humanity project was a "housewares shower"
to furnish a Habitat family with basic household items which
they might not otherwise have been able to afford.
Thanks to all
for your constant and continuing support of the youth programs
at St. James!
